About our Club

72 Years Young and Growing!

The Vernon Lions Club was granted its charter on November 6th, 1945 with 23 founding members.  Our first president was William A. MacKenzie, and his daughters Marnie and Bobbe MacKenzie were guests at our 65th Anniversary celebration in October 2010 and have since become members.
Lumby, Enderby, Revelstoke and Coldstream Lions Clubs were originally sponsored by the Vernon Lions Club.  Our longest serving member, Joseph Peters, with 65 years of perfect attendance, passed away in 2010 at 96 years of age.  Our current roster includes members in a wide age range with varied interests and backgrounds.
Thousands of dollars raised by Vernon Lions Club members have gone back annually into Vernon area initiatives in the Club's lifespan so far.
The rich history of hands-on helping in the community and contribution to worthy local and international causes is something we would very much like to carry forward into the future.  In order to do so, we always welcome new members to take up the tasks and enjoyment of serving.  Why not consider helping out with one of our functions or, better yet, become a member of our Lion Family!  Please contact us for more information.

  • helping with the Allan Brooks Rivers Day fundraiser

  • ringing the bells for the Salvation Army Kettle campaign

  • cooking and serving breakfasts for patrons of the Upper Room Mission

  • spring work party to help clean up and prep O'Keefe Ranch for the new season

  • spring and fall work parties to clean up the Grey Canal trail

  • a kitchen trailer concession supporting the annual Vernon MS Walk/Run/Ride event

So there are activities for each of our members to get involved with, no matter what their physical capabilities are - there's something to interest everyone! Come join us.
